Obituary

Adelaide (Brewer) Carter, 82, of Eustis, formerly of Kernersville, NC, transitioned to eternity on November 1, 2024. She was born in Rowan County, NC to the late Clement A. and Virgie (Foote) Brewer and received her formal education in the public schools of Rowan County where she graduated from Aggrey Memorial High School. She went on to pursue a  bachelor's degree from Winston Salem Teachers College, which is now Winston Salem State University and was employed at Wachovia Bank and Trust for 37 years until her retirement.

She was an active parishioner of the United Metropolitan Baptist Church, where she served faithfully for many decades as a member of the Senior choir and numerous other organizations. In her leisure time, she enjoyed gardening and watching Kobe Bryant play for her favorite basketball team, the Los Angeles Lakers. Adelaide will always be remembered for her kindness and generosity and helping others in need.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Robert Carter, Jr. and his wife Stephanie; her grandchildren, Evelyn and Robert Carter, III; her brother Clement Brewer and numerous family members and invaluable lifetime friends. In addition to her parents, Ms. Carter was predeceased by her husband Robert H. Carter, Sr.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church, 450 Metropolitan Drive, Winston-Salem, NC 27101. Final committal services are private.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Adelaide's name to a community organization in your area that provides aid to individuals experiencing hunger and homelessness.

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
