Alan J. Mason

With deep love, we announce the passsing of Alan Joseph Mason, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, who passed away on June 15, 2026 at the age of 80. He was born on October 22, 1945 to the late Alphonse and Marguerite (Putfark) Mason. He grew up in Algiers, Louisiana. As a young boy, Alan was a proud boy scout, graduating from Behrman High School in 1964. At age 19, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served in the Vietnam War from 1967 through 1968. Before leaving for Vietnam, Alan met the love of his life, Linda Plaisance. They were married on October 22, 1966. Following his military service, Alan and Linda made their home in Prairieville, Louisiana, where they raised three beautiful children. Alan worked for Nabisco for 29 years before retiring and moving to sunny Florida. Retirement, however, did not suit him for long, and he began a second career with The Home Depot, where he worked for another 16 years.

Alan lived every day to the fullest, believing that each day was a gift. He taught those around him the importance of showing love through life's little acts of kindness. For nearly 60 years, he and Linda shared an extraordinary and unbreakable love, rooted in their devotion to God and their Catholic faith. Even after six decades together, they continued to court one another, never letting a day pass without saying, "I love you." Alan loved to travel and had a lifelong passion for learning. He was patient, kind, and treated everyone with equal dignity and respect, seeing no one as above him and no one as beneath him. He loved unconditionally and, in return, was deeply loved by all who knew him. His passing leaves a void that can never truly be filled. Yet his legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched and in the words he often shared: "Pray, hope, and don't worry."

Alan is survived by his wife, Linda Plaisance Mason; his children, Christopher Alan Mason and wife Karen, Amanda Mason Ecker and husband Mark, and Sean Christopher Mason; his grandchildren: Caleb Alan Mason, Emily Grace Mason, Avé Rose Ecker, Mary Louise Ecker, Elizabeth Grace Ecker, Luke Christopher Mason, Alex Grace Mason; and his sisters, Arlene Cooper and husband Arnold and Leslye Jenco and husband John.
