IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alda
Serrao-Feliciano
June 29, 1953 – June 10, 2023
Alda Paulina Serrao Feliciano, also known as Gaia (to her grandchildren), 69, of Clermont, Florida, died on Saturday, June 10, 2023, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family. Alda was born on June 29, 1953, in San Fernando, Trinidad to the late Antonio Pereira Serrao and Thelma Albertina (Parsons) Serrao. She grew up in Trinidad and relocated to New York where she attended the State University of New York, obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree, and then received her Master of Education degree from Dowling College. Alda was awarded several teaching and art competition accolades over her lifetime.
She had a passion for art; it brought her to art centers in Europe and she was active in the NYC art scene of the 1980's, frequently rubbing shoulders with other prominent artists. Alda also enjoyed researching genealogy, often attempting to find the end of the Internet.
We will have countless memories of the many family events made special by Alda cooking food that was typical in our culture. These gatherings were quite spectacular and fostered family bonding over the multitudes of jokes and lively conversations. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
Alda is survived by her son, Christopher Feliciano and wife Dawn; her adored grandchildren, Christina and Benedict Feliciano; her loving brother, Julio Serrao; her sisters-in-law: Joan and Debra Serrao; her nieces and nephews: Stanley, Shane, Sheldon, Sierra, Simon, Simeon, Darrel, Gabrielle Serrao and Rachel and Reagan (Gabrielle's Daughters), Tracey Serrao and Eva (Tracey's Daughter), Mark, Marie, Savannah, Matthew, Mathew Jr. and Mia (Mathew's Children) Serrao and Michael Serrao and Camilla (Michael's daughter) along with their families. She is also survived by her cousins: Jenny Hayes, The Cheeping Family, The Hennes Family, Mark Raymon and Tina Thompson.
Funeral service arrangements are still in process. She will be laid to rest with her late husband, Benedicto Gueco Feliciano in Gary Onderdonk Veteran Memorial Cemetery, Viola, NY at a later date.
