Alyce “Anne” Butler, beloved wife, mother, and friend, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026, in Clermont, Florida, at the age of 88. Formerly of Ithaca, New York, she was born June 24, 1937, in Seneca Falls, NY, to the late Adrian and Florence (Marshall) Suydam.

A graduate of Waterloo Central High School, Anne married her husband, Paul, in 1956. They made their home in Ithaca, where she worked as an administrator at Cornell University’s Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering until her retirement in 1994.

Anne was a devoted mother who supported her children in all their activities and was active in her community through her church and volunteer work. In retirement, she and Paul enjoyed traveling and later settled in Clermont, Florida.

In her later years, Anne resided at Benton House Assisted Living, where she was known for her warm presence and friendly conversations. Her family extends heartfelt gratitude to those who cared for her.

Anne is survived by her children: Michael Butler and wife Melinda, Pamela Dristy and husband Mark, and David Butler and wife Lynnette; her grandchildren: Kaitlyn Poland and husband Gavin, Clinton Butler and wife Brittany, Alex Richmond and husband Ian, Emily Handley and husband Zak, Elizabeth Woods and husband Casey, and Jessica Butler; her great-grandchildren, Cillian Poland, Miles and Bennett Richmond, and Adelaide and Elijah Woods and her niece Susan Altman and husband Jeff. Anne also leaves behind many relatives on her husband’s side, who held special places in her heart. She is now reunited with her husband, her parents, her sister, Linda Kunkel and infant brother, James Adrian Suydam all of whom passed before her.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

We are deeply grateful to all the staff at Cornerstone Hospice for the compassionate and exceptional care they provided to Mom; if you would like to honor her memory, please consider making a donation at Cornerstone Hospice.
