Obituary

Clyde Eugene Carr, Jr., 82, of Clermont, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025, at Orlando Medical Center, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on May 5, 1943, in Boston, Massachusetts, Clyde was the beloved son of the late Madeline (Rose)  and Clyde Eugene Carr, Sr.

A man of strong work ethic and unwavering dedication, Clyde began his career as a machinist with the American Can Company shortly after graduating high school. He proudly devoted 38 years to the company before retiring. His commitment to his fellow workers extended beyond the shop floor through his active involvement with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) union, where he faithfully served as treasurer for many years.

Clyde's life was also marked by honorable military service. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1964 as a tank mechanic and served four years of active duty in Germany. After his honorable discharge in 1968, he continued his service with the Army Reserves at Fort Dix, New Jersey, where he served as a Drill Sergeant and rose through the ranks to retire in 1994 as a Command Sergeant Major. Over the course of his distinguished military career, CSM Carr earned numerous awards, including the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal with oak leaf cluster, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon with oak leaf cluster, Army Service Ribbon, Army Overseas Ribbon, Army Drill Sergeant Badge, Expert Rifle and Pistol Badge, and the Driver and Mechanic Badge.

On August 30, 1980, he married the love of his life, Judith  (Brinson) Burton, in Stoughton, Massachusetts. Together, they built a life centered on love, family, and laughter, raising their children in Plainsboro, New Jersey, before eventually relocating to Clermont, Florida.

Beyond his professional and military accomplishments, Clyde was a devoted family man and loyal sports fan, cheering passionately for the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. Clyde will be remembered for his steady presence, quiet strength, sharp wit, and deep love for his family. He will be deeply missed by his loyal friends, his children, and most of all, his grandchildren. Truly one in a million, Clyde leaves behind a legacy of service, integrity, and love. We are forever grateful that he was ours.

He is survived by his children, Ronald Carr and wife Lisa, Robert Carr and wife Lea, Joseph  Carr and wife Kristina, and step-son Joseph "Bill" Burton and wife Marian; his 11 grandchildren: Joshua, Ronald Jr., Steven, Tyler, Emily, Makenzy, Amanda, Samantha, Eric, Camden, and Brianna; his seven great-grandchildren: Adalynn, Alden, Anthony, Brantley, Corrine, Mila, and Ayden and his siblings: Madeline, Donna, Ginger, and Robert. In addition to his parents and beloved wife Judith, he was predeceased by his sister, Carol.

There will be no service at this time. A spring interment in Massachusetts will be scheduled at a later date. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the ICU staff at Orlando Medical Center for their compassion, kindness, and grace during this difficult time.
