August 21, 1935 – January 18, 2020
On Saturday, January 18, 2020, Elizabeth Jane (Reese) Hebeler passed away after illness from health problems in Orlando, Florida at the age of 84. Elizabeth better known as Betty, was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on August 21, 1935. Her parent's William and Elizabeth Reese had four children and Betty was the oldest child. She graduated from The Academy of Notre Dame de Namur high school in Villanova, Pennsylvania in 1953. Following high school, she attended Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she achieved a degree in Business Administration in 1957. In college, she participated in the Newman Club, the Drexel Catholic Campus Community Organization. At Drexel, she met the love of her life, John while they were students. Betty married John Hebeler on June 22nd, 1957. John predeceased Betty after nearly 56 years of marriage. They had four children; John (Christi) Hebeler, Vicki Hebeler, Robert (Jo Marie) Hebeler, and Jane (Tom) Hebeler-Battafarano, eleven grandchildren; Emily, Sean, James, Elizabeth, Christopher, Lauren, Veronica, Matt, Katy, Joe, and Megan, and five great grandchildren; Lucius, Wesley, Caden, Jacob, and Luca. She was a loving Aunt to many nieces and nephews. A sister, Blanche Babiash and a brother, Bill Reese predeceased Betty. Survived by her sister Betty is Mary Hardican. Her professional accomplishments include Personnel Director at Hahnes Department Store in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, Personnel Training Manager at The Wall Street Journal newspaper in New Jersey, and working with her husband at Hebeler Energy Solutions in Connecticut. After retirement, she created and lead a bereavement support group in Wethersfield, Connecticut and in Clermont, Florida after they relocated to Florida. Betty was a talented artist and received awards from her paintings in contests in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. John and Betty were accomplished Bridge players. They had groups of friends that played Bridge on a regular basis for many years. She participated in volunteer work including making meals for the sick. She enjoyed activities including the Garden Club at Church of the Incarnation Roman Catholic Church in Wethersfield, Connecticut. Entertaining others at home was a fun part of her life. Betty planned and hosted many parties and gatherings with family and friends. She loved the ocean, especially the Jersey shore. Many happy times were shared in the summer during family trips to Ocean City, New Jersey. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 28, 2020 at St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church in Gladwyne, Pennsylvania.
