George Fredrick Morris, age 87, Clermont, passed away August 31, 2018 at Cornerstone Hospice Mike Conley House. He was born June 1, 1931 in Eden, NY son of Edward Morris and Bertha Schmidt.  He was one of six children.

He enlisted in the Navy in 1949 and served until 1953.  He was married in Boston and had 6 children.

George remarried in 1981 to Elizabeth Anne Short.  He worked many different jobs over his life time finishing his career as a mail handler for the United States Postal Service.

After retiring, Betty and George traveled the country by motor home for many years.  They explored and visited every state except Alaska. They even ventured into Canada.  They made many friends along the way. Eventually, they purchased a home in Clermont where they enjoyed Florida's winter months.  They continued to travel during the summer months through 2016.

George is survived by his wife Elizabeth Anne Morris, his sister Nancy Jean Hoyler, his children David, William, James, Richard and Karlene as well as his step children Eric Johnson, Jef Johnson and Wendy Neal.

Burial will be at the Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102 nd Ave, Bushnell, FL.
