Obituary

Gertrud "Gertie" Fisher, 83, of Clermont, Florida, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Bad Kreuznach, Germany, to the late Karl and Maria Schwab, Gertie's journey took her from her hometown in Germany to Augusta, Georgia, and finally to Florida, where she spent her final years.

Gertie was known for her straightforward nature, infectious sense of humor, and unwavering strength. Her love for life was contagious, and she embraced each day with a unique zest. A cherished part of her legacy was her impressive skill in playing Dr. Mario, a video game she mastered at the expert level. Her family often marveled at her abilities, as no one ever managed to outplay her—proving that even in a game, she was a force to be reckoned with.

She leaves behind a loving family, including her children: Bettina Austin and her husband Doland, who made their home together in Florida; Angie Chavis of Augusta, GA; and Teri and Jurgen Helms of Augusta, GA. Gertie's love extended to her eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, who lovingly called her "Oma" and cherished every moment they spent with her.

Gertie's presence will be missed, but her strength, her spirit, and her ability to bring joy to those around her will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
