Harold George Gray, 85, of Clermont, FL, formerly of Yakima, WA, Fairfield, CA and Oak Harbor, WA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at Cornerstone Hospice in Clermont, FL.
Born in Yakima, WA, on September 28, 1935, Harold was the son of the late Harold Roland Gray and Elizabeth Annie Gray. He was the devoted husband of Barbara June Gray, with whom he had shared 55 wonderful years of marriage.
Following high school, Harold served in the US Marines and the US Air Force for a combined 12 years. He also had an extensive career with the US Navy as a civil servant for 20 years. Harold was a longtime member of the American Legion and Elks Lodge. He enjoyed dancing, music, playing golf, working on computers, spending time with his loved ones, watching football, walking his dog, reading the paper and taking naps in his favorite chair. He loved all food especially cookies, drank coffee all day long and enjoyed a cold beer or a glass of wine in the evening. He also loved dining out with his beautiful wife on the weekends and then dancing the night away with her.
In addition to his wife, Harold is survived by his loving children: Denis Gray, (husband to Antoinette) of Cocoa Beach, FL and Deborah Eggert of Clermont, FL. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren; Deanna Spiegel (wife to Jerry) of Coal Valley, IL, Dixie Faber (wife to Jeff) of Phoenix, AZ, Melissa Blake (former wife to Mark) of Fleming Island, FL, Denis Tyler George Gray of Hutchinson, KS and Delaney Cunningham (wife to Will) of Jacksonville, FL. Harold also had 4 great-grandchildren; Kylie Spiegel (Coal Valley, IL) attending Illinois Wesleyan University, Garron Blake (Fleming Island, FL) serving as a Seaman in the US Coast Guard, Justin Spiegel (Coal Valley, IL) attending Blackhawk Community College, and Leityn Blake (Fleming Island, FL) completing his Senior Year at Fleming Island High School. Harold also had a sister, Joyce Cunningham.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his sister Annie Lawrence.
A Memorial Service will be held in November 2021. Date and location will be determined at a future time.
