IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ingeburg G.
Wolan
September 11, 1928 – May 13, 2023
Ingeburg Gerda Wolan, who loved to be called "Oma" by her grandkids, passed away peacefully in her home on May 13, 2023, in Wildwood, Florida with her grandson, Anthony by her side. Inge was born in Gera, Germany on September 11, 1928. In 1950, she met and married the love of her life, Frederick A. Wolan, a young American service man. Inge and her son Jack arrived stateside in 1955 where she studied for and passed the naturalization test to become a United States citizen, a very proud achievement for her. In 1958, Fred received orders to return to the U.S. and they made their home in New Jersey.
As a prominent member of her community, she was known for her political activism and organized numerous VFW parties and celebrations. She loved being a Committee Woman for the Democratic Party, and an instrumental voice in her community. She shared the social light with her three best friends: Mable, Brenda, and Nancy. After moving to Wildwood, Florida she was able to partake in her other material love of fine jewelry by working part time at Devon Jewelers in Leesburg and being a true fashionista sporting her Beeline Fashions and Avon.
She took pleasure in going to the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee so she could hobnob with some of, what would be viewed as the legendary country singers such as: Conway Twitty, Tammy Wynette, Hank Williams, Charlie Pride, Loretta Lynn, and Dolly Parton - just to name few. Camping was the way Inge and Fred were able to travel and actually discover Wildwood, Florida through staying at the KOA Campgrounds.
Inge was a passionate homemaker; she was dedicated to making her home comfortable, enjoyable, and filled with traditions. She enjoyed breeding and raising her Dachshunds: Schultz, Schatsee, Fritz, Heidi, and Suzy. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Inge had a mission to support her family and was a loyal friend. She will be forever loved and missed by all her family and friends.
She is survived by her by her children: Jack and Elizabeth; her six grandchildren: Anthony, Stephanie, Nicole, Renee, Sean, and Christopher; her six great-grandchildren: Landon, Holden, Everleigh, Rhett, Taylor, and Gavyn; her sister Helga, and nieces and nephews who reside in Germany. Inge was predeceased by Frederick A. Wolan, her beloved husband of 62 years, and her son Jimmy.
A service will be held at Florida National Cemetery on June 22 at 2:30 p.m. where she will be laid to rest with her husband.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Inge's name may be made to the Warrior's Foundation at https://militarywarriors.org/
