IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James
Pirino
August 25, 1946 – February 26, 2022
James Bartley Pirino (75) died peacefully at home on February 26, 2022 with Harriet, his loving wife of 53 years, at his side. Born in 1946 to Jerry B. Pirino and Amelia (Mel) Brozowsky Pirino, in Kingston, Pennsylvania where he was raised. He graduated from Kingston High School in '64 and Wilkes College with a BS in Biology in '69. Jim continued his studies at the University of Minnesota Minneapolis and later Duluth (Masters Educational Psychology), including studies in bio-feedback. His work career was diverse and included time working in the University labs, and later as a bio-feedback provider in the healthcare field. He retired in 2010 as a financial manager in the banking industry. Beyond the love of family, Jim had two primary interests: health of our world, and DIY projects. Since childhood, Jim was drawn to animals (pet racoons to name one), swimming (lifeguard) and protecting our environment (improving lake health of the Clermont Chain of Lakes in Central Florida). He enjoyed the out-of-doors, especially on a boat or motorcycle trip. On a personal level, Jim studied the art of yoga under a yogi in the 1980s, gaining a peaceful approach to life and daily living. In Minnesota, in the 1980's Jim and Harriet bought a Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired house slated for demolition, moved it several miles across town, and settled it atop a newly poured foundation. Over the years there, Jim and the family spent time together completing many renovations to the house and hosting many celebrations. After retirement, he and Harriet moved to Emerald Lakes where he continued using his skills in DIY projects on the home his parent's had purchased new in 1977 . In retirement, Jim stayed active, always giving back. He was President of the Emerald Lakes Board of Directors for four years, serving the community and leading the initiative to change the governance of the water levels and other factors affecting the Clermont Chain of Lakes. He was also active in the men's club and, with Harriet, enjoyed playing shuffleboard and bocce. Jim will be sorely missed. Jim is survived by his dear wife, Harriet Pirino; son, Bart Pirino; (Deborah), daughter, Jennifer Pirino; grandchildren, Jarrod Pirino, Elisabeth Pirino, and Emilia Pirino; and siblings, Dr. Raymond Pirino; and Alberta Tunila. A Celebration of Life will be held on March 19, 2022, for family and friends from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Emerald Lakes Clubhouse in Clermont, Florida. In lieu of flowers, please consi der donations to one of these favorite charities: The Wildlife Fund, Emerald Lakes Memorial Fund, The Dragonfly Project, or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
