Jerry E. Townsend, 79, of Winter Garden, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Born on September 30, 1946, in Williamstown, Kentucky, to the late Everett and Mamie Townsend, Jerry grew up in Dayton, Ohio, where he attended Grant Elementary and Belmont High School, graduating in 1964. He went on to study at Wright State University.
Jerry built a successful career at The Trane Company, working in sales and ultimately serving as a Regional Manager.
Jerry and his wife, Pat moved to The Villages, Florida, in 2003, where he enjoyed playing softball, golfing, and bowling with friends and neighbors until 2025. He had a lifelong passion for travel, embracing the chance to explore the world and create lasting memories with his family.
A man of deep faith, Jerry lived each day guided by Christian principles. He was devoted, loving, and admired by all who knew him. His favorite hymn, Because He Lives, reflected the hope and joy he carried in his heart.
Jerry was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Pat, for 59 years. He was a proud and loving father to Brian (Lina), Jeffrey (Diane), and Kristen (Jason), and a cherished grandfather to Avery, Bryce, Jackson, and Andrea. He loved coaching his children in sports and never missed an opportunity to cheer on his grandchildren at their games and activities. A true fan and encourager, Jerry brought energy and enthusiasm to every event.
A Celebration of Life in honor of Jerry will be held at a later date. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
