Jo Ann Calbeck Bond
Born in Nappanee, IN on April 14, 1932
Died in Celebration, FL January 12, 2017
She was preceded in death by her parents Victor H. and Beatrice S. Calbeck and 4 sisters, Jean Ellen Calbeck, Nancy Lou Calbeck, Sue Carol Calbeck
(all decreased in early childhood) and Mary Janet Calbeck, in 1980.
She had lived in Richmond area since 1941 and had attended Richmond Schools graduating in 1950. She was a member of Block R, attended basketball games and loved cheering for her team. She attended Indiana University for 2 years. She was a member of Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church, loved music and sang in the Reid choir for many years. She enjoyed playing the beautiful chimes. Starting in 1977, she worked for three different furniture stores all in the same building, Holthouse Furniture, Helig-Meyer Furniture and Leath Furniture. She loved selling furniture and helping people. Jo Ann loved working with the public and retired from Leath Furniture on 2/2/2002. She began working for Meijer in August of 2002 at age 70 as part time cashier. She made many friends with her customers through the years. After retiring a second time at age 81 in 2012, she enjoyed seeing many of her customers in the surrounding communities. She loved her children and grandchildren and especially loved taking pictures of them! They were her life. She moved to Florida in 2014 and adopted her beloved rescue poodle Sophie.
She is survived by her 3 daughters, Sharon Hamed and her husband Saade. Theresa Bond and her husband Edmond. Diana Bond Vassallo and her husband Steven.
She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren: Sam Hamed, Eva Hamed, Zigmont Fafard, Quinlan Fafard and Emily Vassallo. Also a lifetime friend of Joan Youst
Graveside services will be scheduled at the convenience of the family.
