IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John "Tom"
Garver, Ii
November 8, 1968 – January 22, 2026
On January 22, 2026, after exactly three years battling colon cancer, John Thomas "Tom" Garver, II was relieved of his suffering and began his next chapter in Heaven.
Originally from Arlington, Virginia, he was a loyal Redskins fan, way back when they were a force to be reckoned with. An athlete himself, he excelled at many sports, including football, boxing, and soccer. His love of soccer would eventually come full circle as he watched his own two boys on the pitch. Their coaches were most appreciative of his "help" from the spectator sidelines. Along with a few other dads, he happily joined an "over 40" league and nurtured that competitive spirit, all without breaking any bones.
While nights and weekends were filled with practices and games, his weekdays were spent as a land developer and residential home builder. In 1997, his career blossomed with Centex Homes. Earning several promotions, he relocated his family in 2006 to Central Florida for an Executive Vice President position. In 2011, he took a leap of faith and opened AR Bailey Homes with his business partner, Rob. Together, they worked tirelessly to develop several subdivisions, as well as operate a custom home division. You'd often find him with a pencil behind his ear, ready to sketch house plans or illustrate a story with a quick drawing on a napkin. Rarely did he get through a conversation without explaining something through pen and paper. His precision and attention to detail were remarkably impressive.
Even during his illness and brutal chemotherapy treatments, he was thrilled to share his passions with his family. From hunting in Illinois, to golfing in Puerto Rico, to skiing in Tahoe, he made memories that will forever be cherished.
Tom was known for his stubbornness, and, not surprisingly, he challenged his aggressive disease, gifting his family more time than expected.
He leaves behind his best friend and wife, Nikki, and their two boys, Jay (22) and Tyler (21). Their hearts are broken, as he was the heart, soul, comedian, protector, and rock of his family, but they are comforted knowing he is watching over them from above.
In addition to Nikki, Jay, and Tyler, he is survived by his older sister, Tanya, of Cincinnati, OH, her two adult children, Angus and Julia; his younger brother, Chris, his wife, Lisa, of Sugar Land, TX, and their two adult daughters, Lauren and Eden; his youngest sister, Kyra, of Fredericksburg, VA; and his father, Jack, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He also leaves behind steadfast friends who walked alongside him on his journey, especially John and Becky Bartkovich.
