IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Judith A.
Swartwood
November 6, 1941 – October 20, 2025
Judith "Judy" Ann Swartwood (née Monteaux) peacefully passed away on October 20, 2025, in Minneola, Florida, at the age of 83. She was born on November 6, 1941, in Oakdale, Louisiana, and was raised in the nearby town of Kinder by her loving parents, the late Dudley "Pete" and Una Mary Monteaux.
Judy's academic journey took her to Louisiana State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. It was there that she met the love of her life, David Swartwood, with whom she would share over six decades of marriage. Together, they raised a family and built a legacy of love, faith, and dedication.
A lifelong Catholic, Judy's strong faith was a cornerstone of her life. Raised in a Cajun household where French was often spoken, she maintained a deep connection to her heritage and was particularly comforted by the example of Saint Jude throughout her life.
Judy's professional life included work as a Water Quality Technician, followed by a long tenure managing the Orange County Landfill. In 1966, she and her husband David moved to Orlando, where they lived for many years before retiring to Minneola. In retirement, Judy found joy in spending time with family, baking, playing bridge, and enjoying games of chance.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Judy leaves her beloved husband, David; her children: Gregory David Swartwood and wife Deborah, Jeffrey Neal Swartwood, Garrett Paul Swartwood and wife Kathryn; her 12 grandchildren: Alexandra, Olivia, Sophia, Schuyler, Lexington, India, Madeline, Jack, Graham, Andrew, Pierre, and Cecilia; and her seven great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immeasurable happiness. She is also survived by her brother James "Dud" Dudley Monteaux and her son-in-law David Daniels. In addition to her parents, Judy was predeceased by her daughter, Nancy Marie Daniels.
Judy's commitment to family and her legacy of love will continue to inspire all who knew her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 15th at 11:00 AM at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Clermont, Florida.
