Lothar K. Schaarschmidt, 78, of Clermont, FL, passed away on December 17, 2016 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Orlando, FL. Born on December 13, 1938 in Germany to Karl & Bertha (Huttel) Schaarschmidt, Lothar was a retired Quality Controller for the Mercedes Benz Corp after 15 years. Before that, he moved in 1963 from Germany to Jamaica, Queens, NY, where he got married to his sweetheart, Brigitte Baumgardt and started his career as a mechanic. Once retired, they moved to Naples and then to Clermont in 2007, where he then worked for Publix at the Citrus Tower and was the most requested bagger for the customers. Survivors include his beloved wife of 53 years, Brigitte, of Clermont; his loving son, Carl, of Clermont; his brother, Werner (Else) Schaarschmidt, also of Clermont; his Godson/nephew, Walter (Mary) Schaarschmidt and two great-nieces and a great-nephew. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Cremation Choices Chapel, 921 S. Hwy 27, Minneola, FL 34715.
