IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Maria V.
Osorio Vargas
September 7, 1948 – January 19, 2025
It is with profound love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Maria Virginia Osorio Vargas, who went to be with the Lord on January 19, 2025, at the age of 76. She was born on September 7, 1948, in Santurce, Puerto Rico, to the late Victor Manuel Osorio and Providencia Calderon. Maria, a dedicated and compassionate soul, made a lasting impact in her community and in the lives of all who knew her.
Maria's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to others. As a social worker, she devoted many years to helping those in need. Whether it was guiding individuals through substance abuse recovery, providing refuge for women and children escaping violence, or offering support to low-income families, Maria's work reflected her immense heart and commitment to lifting others up.
Maria's love for life was infectious. Her days were filled with the music she adored, often humming and singing as she went about her daily routine. She found joy in simple pleasures: buying scratch-offs at Bravo or the local gas stations, playing dominoes and bingo, and watching her favorite TV shows like La Comay and Caso Cerrado. Yet, her greatest joy came from the time spent with her family. Maria's warmth and care were constants in the lives of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and everyone who was lucky enough to call her family or friend.
She leaves behind her children, Maria Rosa, Eduardo Robinson, and Jacqueline "Jackie" Robinson, and is reunited in Heaven with her beloved daughter Maria Magdalena Robinson. Maria will also be deeply missed by her grandchildren Yelitza Rivera, Ricky Rojas, Alexavier Rosa, Shanel Robinson, Justin Taylor, Melissa Taylor, Ashley Robinson, Victoria Rosa, Alexis Robinson, and Tatiana Robinson, along with her great-grandchildren Adrian Marquez, Paris Rojas, Anaya Rivera, Ricky Romeo Rojas, Aiden Rivera, Zamiya Atkinson, and Catalina Rojas.
Maria is also survived by her loving sisters Lydia Castro and Natividad Santiago, her dear aunt Carmen Osorio, as well as a son-in-law, Jesus Rosa, and grandson-in-law, Michael Rivera, who cherished her deeply. She is reunited with her late husband, Juan "Pito" Vargas, in eternal peace.
Her legacy of love, kindness, and service to others will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Maria's family finds comfort in knowing she is at peace, surrounded by love, and that her spirit will forever be with them.
A life well-lived, a heart so pure, and a soul that touched so many—Maria will never be forgotten.
