Obituary

With profound sadness, the family of Michael Thomas "Mike" Abeyta announces his passing on January 23, 2025, at the age of 70. After a courageous battle with  long-term cardiac and kidney illnesses, Mike peacefully departed surrounded by his loved ones.
Born in Winter Garden, Florida, to the late Thomas and Mae Chloe Abeyta, Mike was a proud son, brother, father, and grandfather. He grew up in a close-knit community and shone as an athlete during his time at Lakeview High School, excelling in football, baseball, and track. Though he was talented in many sports, baseball held a special place in his heart-a love that endured throughout his life. Whether on the field or off, Mike's competitive spirit and natural talent were always evident.
Mike's life was a blend of hard work, enthusiasm for sports, and a deep love for his family. He spent many years as the top salesman at West Orange Lumber, where his work ethic and people skills earned him respect and admiration. Mike was a true conversationalist, able to make anyone feel like an old friend. His infectious smile and hearty laughter could brighten the darkest of rooms, and his quick wit and endless supply of jokes brought joy to all who knew him.
Nature was another of Mike's great loves. Whether fishing at sunrise or enjoying a round of golf, the outdoors brought him peace and contentment. Mike was also a passionate college football fan, supporting the Florida Gators and later the Philadelphia Eagles.
A lifelong giver, Mike was a dedicated blood and platelet donor, always eager to lend a hand where needed. His generosity extended far beyond his family, and his warm heart and kind nature made him a beloved member of the Clermont community.
Above all, Mike's greatest pride was his family. He was a devoted husband to Gaile, whom he married 22 years ago in an unforgettable Las Vegas ceremony. Together, they created a life rich in love, laughter, and adventure. Mike will always be remembered for his kindness, his laughter, and his ability to light up a room with his presence. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and his spirit will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have crossed his path.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Gaile; his sons, Michael Jr., Jarrod, Joshua, Dillon, and Cody; his cherished grandchildren, Chloe and Olivia; his siblings, Irishea Howell, Susan Lewis, and Charlotte Faulk; his parents-in-law, Allen and Eve Sandy; his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Brent and Denise Bush, and Sandy and Jerry Farley; as well as his beloved fur babies, Bongo, Benny, and Sissy the cat. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will treasure his memory forever. Mike was preceded in death by his sister, Silvia White, and his beloved pets, Lucylou and Buddy, with whom he is now reunited.
A Celebration of Mike's Life will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Abeyta residence. Family and friends are invited to join in sharing stories, laughter, and fond memories of a man who touched so many lives. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Gaile Abeyta to help with medical expenses incurred during Mike's illness.
The family is forever grateful for the compassionate care Mike received from the doctors and nurses at South Lake Orlando Health Hospital in Clermont over the past 14 years, Dr Mary Rose Boehm, his personal physician and his dialysis care team at Fresenius in Clermont. Their dedication brought him comfort and peace in his final years.
