IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patrick Glen
Peebles
February 14, 1943 – May 12, 2024
Patrick "Pat" Glen Peebles, aged 81, passed away peacefully and was received by Jesus on May 12, 2024, at his home in Clermont, FL, surrounded by his loving family. The fourth of five children, he was born on February 14, 1943, in Houston, TX to Aubrey Edmund "Red" Peebles and Cloye Ruth Carroll Peebles. Pat was a proud native Texan and a graduate of Lamar High School in Houston. He married Cathy Clark in 1970, and remained married for more than 53 years. They had three children, Kim, Jack, and Jennifer. He graduated from TCU with an accounting degree and worked as a CPA. Pat attended TCU on a full athletic scholarship, playing both baseball and basketball. He was a pitcher on the 1963 SWC co-champion baseball team. Pat was even offered a contract to play for the Houston Colt .45s (Houston Astros), but opted to remain at TCU to finish his degree. He also served one tour in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Trained as a medic and rising to the rank of staff sergeant, he served in the United States Army Special Forces as a Green Beret.
Never one to brag about his accomplishments, Pat was always more interested in what was going on in other people's lives. He was the rock and glue of the family. He never missed a game or performance in which his children participated and, when he became a grandfather, continued to show up and support their activities. Born on Valentine's Day and passing on Mother's Day, he loved spending holidays with family, and he was relentlessly generous, always providing for them when they were in need. In 2010, Pat and Cathy decided to treat the whole family, which included their three adult children and spouses, and all five grandchildren (twelve in total), to a dream Walt Disney World vacation. The family spent a week at the Grand Floridian and enjoyed the experience so much, Pat and Cathy treated the family to two more trips to Disney World and one trip to Disneyland over the next five years, which created treasured, life-long memories for the entire family. Pat and Cathy moved to Clermont, FL in 2016 to be closer to family and enjoy Disney in smaller doses, and Pat even got to play a little golf. Pat had a mischievous sense of humor and loved to quote his favorite movies to make other people laugh. After growing up Southern Baptist, he became a regular online attender of the First Presbyterian Church of Orlando once he moved to Florida. He was an amazing husband, father, father-in-law, son, and brother. We love you, Pat.
Pat was predeceased in death by his parents, Aubrey and Cloye; an older brother, Michael; and his younger brother, Bill. He is survived by his wife, Cathy; an older sister, Kathleen Peebles Flick, of Washington, TX; an older brother, Jerry Peebles of Kerrville, TX; his daughter, Kimberly Peebles Freedman (Kevin) of Thompsons Station, TN and their children, Austin (fiancée Abigail) and Josh; his son, Jack Peebles (Margaret) of Winter Garden, FL and their children, Annabelle and David Glen (Pat's middle name); his daughter Jennifer Lee Peebles of Winter Park, FL and her son, Patrick Graham (named after Pat); and other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
