Peggy J. Mattingly, 75, died, Sunday, February 10, 2019, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
She was born on August 13, 1943, to the late Paul K. Thresher and Mary Lee Williams Thresher.
Peggy was born in Kerrville, Texas, during World War II. After her father returned from the war, he took Peggy and her mom back to Louisville, Kentucky, where they lived. Peggy spent her early life there with her parents and younger sister, Vicky.
Peggy graduated from duPont Manual High School in Louisville, Kentucky. After graduation, she married Larry Mattingly. Peggy and Larry lived in Louisville for the early part of their marriage, and then moved their family to Macon, Georgia, in the late 1970's. They lived in Macon until 2003, and then moved to the Kings Ridge retirement community in Clermont, Florida.
Peggy and Larry celebrated their 57 th wedding anniversary in June 2018.
Peggy is survived by her husband, James Larry Mattingly, Sr.; children and their spouses: Jim and Linda Mattingly of Clermont, FL., and Sandy and Clayton Black of Macon, GA; 5 grandchildren: Christina, Kavon, Meagan, Kelsey, and Rachel; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Vicky and Bob Zuverink, of Floyds Knobs, IN, and family; and her sweet cat, Little Foot.
In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation to your favorite charity or to the Mike Conley Hospice House, in Clermont, Florida.
Cremation Choices, in Minneola, Florida, was in charge of arrangements, and the family held a private memorial.
