IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ronald H.
Bookman
February 15, 1951 – May 8, 2025
Ronald H. Bookman, affectionately known to family and friends as Ron, Ronnie, or simply "Captain," of Clermont, Florida, passed away on May 8, 2025, at the age of 74, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. His unexpected passing leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts, to the late Sam and Charlotte (Freedman) Bookman, Ron lived a life rich in music, laughter, friendship, and purpose. A gifted concert pianist with a voice that could captivate any room, he shared his talents generously, turning ordinary gatherings into unforgettable moments. He was also a trained auctioneer and a savvy, self-made entrepreneur whose dedication and vision led to a thriving business and early retirement at the age of 55.
Never one to stay idle, Ron filled his retirement years with passion and purpose. A lifelong boater and accomplished mariner, he served as Commodore of the Bourne Yacht Club, where he was a trusted leader and mentor to countless new boaters. Whether captaining vessels along the shores of Cape Cod or exploring the lakes of Central Florida, Ron's love for the water was infectious. To sail with him was to witness pure joy.
Ron is survived by James Malloch, his devoted partner of 44 years, and their beloved dog, Jace. He also leaves behind his brother Richard Bookman and wife Kathleen; his nieces Melissa and Rebecca Bookman; his nephews Jeremy Bookman and wife Jessica, and Brian Bookman and their families; along with numerous cousins and lifelong friends. Ron held a special place in his heart for his East Taunton, Massachusetts family and for dear friends near and far.
In addition to his parents, Ron was predeceased by his brother Michael Bookman, and his nephew Joshua Bookman.
To know Ron was to know generosity, humor, loyalty, and heart. Whether through a warm smile, a kind gesture, or a wise word, he made people feel valued, and loved. His spirit will live on in the lives he touched and the countless memories made on land and sea.
