Sally Lee Hutcheson Arthurs, age 85,
passed away June 11, 2019 in Clermont, Florida her home for the last 27 years. Sally was born Aug 5, 1933 in Dormont, PA, moving as a child to Bethel Park, PA
Her parents were James Parks Hutcheson and Lucy Leoti Denning Hutcheson, siblings James Parks Hutcheson II, Martha Hutcheson Wise, Dorothy Hutcheson Booth, and Robert Hutcheson, all predeceased.
Sally graduated from Bethel Park High School, Bethel Park, PA and attended Maryland College for Women, Towson MD. She married Raymond W. Arthurs in 1953 and started a life as an Air Force officer's wife. Over the next 22 years, she moved several times throughout the United States. Ray and Sally had three children, Wendy Verbeke (Frank), Jacqueline Schooling Arthurs, Bradley W. Arthurs (deceased), and grandchildren, Eva Schooling, William Verbeke, Daniel Verbeke, and Amanda Verbeke Chen (Kevin).
In 1971 she was awarded the Air Force Association Award of Merit for her leadership as Chairman of the Central New York area Help Forgotten Americans Committee which spearheaded the area letter writing campaign to bring awareness of the plight of the POW's and MIA's during the Vietnam War.
Sally lived for many years in Fort Walton Beach, Florida where she owned and operated a family printing company for 14 years along with her husband, Ray and their children. She owned her own publishing company in the Central Florida area for 5 years in the mid 1990's.
After moving to Clermont, Florida she became involved in social activities and a member of the choir at Saint Matthias Episcopal Church as well as directing the choir for a short time.
She was an accomplished organist, singer, and bridge card player. She was a business manager of her high school newspaper, a member of her high school Glee Club, basketball team, and National Honor Society. She spent many hours participating in her grandchildren's activities, sewing costumes and dance competition outfits, and attending many band activities.
Sally is known as a loving wife, wonderful mother, kind soul, loving Spirit, a great friend.
Memorial Service to be held 10:30 AM on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at St. Matthias Episcopal Church, 574 Montrose St, Clermont Florida. Inurment will be at a later date in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to St. Matthias Episcopal Church Choir.
