Troy Miller, of Montverde, Florida, passed away unexpectedly after a short battle with an aggressive cancer on Sept 15. He was 58, and beloved by many. Troy was in the horticulture industry, selling flowers, shrubs and trees for over 30 years. His most notable projects were Animal Kingdom and Typhoon Lagoon. He loved his job and his clients. He was an avid reader and always did the Sunday crossword puzzle in ink. He was a great blackjack player who would have the whole table laughing and playing as a team. He loved dogs.
In 2006 he met Kathy VandeWetering at the Tiki Bar in Clermont. They fell into a conversation about books, and he moved in with her less than 4 months later. They loved each other dearly. He became an excellent step-dad to her children, Sierra and Jesse VandeWetering. He loved being a grandparent to Luna and Jonah and flourished in this role. They adored him. He was generous and kind, and we took several wonderful family vacations together, most recently to Yellowstone.
He is survived by his mother, Pam Miller, brother Carl, sister KC Armstrong (Ralph) and nephews and nieces. Pre-deceased are his father, Thomas and his younger brother, Jason.
Join us in a celebration of his life at Mission Inn, Howey-in-the-Hills, Oct 23 from 2-6 pm. In lieu of flowers please donate to St Jude's Children's Cancer Hospital.
