IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Wendy
Elmore
March 17, 1970 – December 31, 2024
Wendy Renee Childress (Elmore), 54, of The Villages, passed away on December 31, 2024, after battling with illness for many years. She was born in Lynchburg, VA to Ann Childress- Wood (James C. Wood) and the late Ronald Nelson Childress. She graduated from Brookville High School and went on to receive her certification as a nursing assistant where she traveled the road of forever helping others.
Wendy was an outdoor enthusiast and loved to be at the beach, floating down the river on a sunny day, or just playing outside with her grandchildren. Those who knew Wendy knew she was a Diehard Dallas Cowboys and UVA fan (wahhhoooooo); if her team was winning you were definitely going to hear about it. She enjoyed spending every Sunday on the couch watching her favorite NASCAR Racer, Mark Martin.
Although she may not have had a whole lot of Irish in her blood, Wendy attested to St. Patrick's Day being the best holiday or, maybe, just because it was her birthday. She loved to celebrate and drink like the Irish, but most importantly she valued the family values of the Irish and always got the family together for any occasion. Wendy had many interests in particular, gardening; everyone knew what her favorite flower was and what she was doing on 4/20.
Wendy truly lived life to the fullest, whether it was riding motorcycles, playing frisbee golf, bowling with her life partner, dancing and playing the Wii with her daughters, hanging out with her soul sisters or being the best Nana/Nanny to all her grandchildren.
Wendy's beautiful life will forever be cherished through the lives of her daughters: Tiffany LeAnn Curtis (Shaun), Kala Renee Childress, and Jessica Skye Edington (DarRius); her grandchildren Kirra Sage Herman, Ava Star Childress, Trinity Dream Roberts, Julian "Hunter" Curtis, Jaylen Omari Swain, Tristan Cole Childress, Holten Michael Curtis, Kristoff James "K.J" Estes; her life partner and best friend Michael Terry "Bread" Whitehead and special pooch Fredrika; her sisters, Deborah Ann Childress and Stacy Childress Minter (James); her step-father J.C. Wood; many special nieces, nephews, friends and SOUL SISTERS.
Wendy is now reunited with her father Ronnie; her granddaughter Kayden Rain Curtis; her nephew Mathew "Mattie" Davis Farmer; her niece Willow Cheyanne Nichole Nance and special friends, William "Bill" James Edington and Darrel "Tiny" Dejarnett.
Wendy's spitfire spirit and wild soul will be missed here but we know Heaven is going to have its hands full with her. The family wishes to thank everyone for their prayers and kind words during this time. A Celebration of Wendy's Life will be held on February 22, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at the Norwood Baptist Church, 1045 Randon Way, Forest, VA 24551. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Wendy's name online: Roads to Recovery https://www.roads2recovery.org/ or Women for Sobriety https://womenforsobriety.org/
