Obituary

Winona M. (Smith) Brown—known as Nona to many and Nana to ten grandchildren and a growing number of great-grandchildren—went home to be with her Savior on March 7, 2025.

Born on July 22, 1939, in the small town of Brownville, Maine, Nona always carried the heart of a country girl. In December 1980, she made a bold move from Maine to Orlando, Florida, embracing life in the "big city." Over the years, she became a true snowbird, spending her summers in Abbot, Maine, on the shores of Piper Pond, and her winters somewhere near the water in Florida—always with a fishing line close at hand.

But even more than fishing or time spent with loved ones, Nona treasured her quiet moments with Jesus. Every morning, coffee in one hand and Bible in the other, she dedicated herself to reading God's word, singing His praises, and lifting up those she loved in prayer. Her greatest desire was for others to know the deep peace and joy she found in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Now, she is rejoicing in His presence for all eternity.

She is lovingly survived by her three daughters and their husbands: Julie and David Brackin of Orlando, Florida, June and Ken Gaucher of Greenville, Maine, and Dorrie and Mark Tripp of Minneola, Florida; her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as her dear niece, Luanne Peters of Clermont, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of Nona's favorite ministries, the Christian Broadcasting Network:
